Dale Jarrett, Class Act

This weekend will mark the end of Dale Jarrett’s career.  Dale will step out of the seat of the #44 UPS Toyota after the checkered flag falls at Bristol this weekend.  When that happens, NASCAR will lose one class act.

When you think of drivers who have earned the respect of everyone in the garage area, Dale Jarrett definitely comes to mind.  Over the years, Dale has come to be known as a driver who races clean on the track and usually never has a negative word to say about anyone.  That makes him a dying breed.

In an age of Tony Stewarts, Kyle Buschs and Kevin Harvicks, when drivers will bad-mouth one another at the drop of a hat, drivers of Dale’s caliber will really be missed.  Drivers with cooler heads seem to be missing these days.  Dale embodied that character.

Dale has been a fixture in NASCAR for such a long time.  Watching a race without his presence on the track will be odd, to say the least.  The only consolation we can take will be that he will be in the booth for ESPN.  His insight should make him an instant hit with fans.

We wish you well, Dale.  You will be missed.  Thanks for the great memories.  There will never be anyone to take your place, no matter who is in the UPS car.

Cinch up those belts and let’s go racing.  JR

It will be strange not having Dale on the track but I think its time to call it a career. I like him in the booth as he is straight shooter who tells it like it is.

Sure we will miss him in the UPS 44 car but hey we can’t have it all. Good luck Dale
